I have this playlist.
It’s called “making art n SHEEIIT” and I simply can’t turn it on and be normal. (The power of Hozier and Frank Ocean, I suppose. But I digress).
More often than not it urges me to reach for my paints. Sometimes it’s gauche, sometimes it’s acrylic, but it hasn’t been oil in years because 1) I’m impatient and 2) I’m not rich enough to justify that investment yet. Maybe one day.
I hope you enjoy what I’ve played around with so far, knowing that once I get my hands on oil paints I’ll be LITRALLY unstoppable.
Kidding! (no I’m not)
The view outside my window painted with gauche in a flurry and overlayed with black ink. Later ended up on the cover of The Beast Magazine for March 2025.
Cows!!!!!!!
Pic taken on the way up Roy’s Peak aka the hardest hike I’ve ever done. Gauche painting done once my body recovered, overlayed with black ink.
A gauche painting of a pic I took of some little guys at Lake Tekapo in New Zealand, overlayed with black ink.
This next one is in the style of artist Tyler Shelton
For my friends’ apartment. I shoved myself into a corner to paint because it had the best lighting.
Acrylic on canvas with charcoal pastel overlay. Original photograph taken by their mom.
