Bondi
All proceeds from this print will be donated to Support Sydney , helping the families and Jewish community so deeply affected by the attack on Sunday, December 14th
I usually have trouble finding the right words, which is why I tend to draw. But this time I don’t think I can do one without the other.
Bondi is a place near and dear to so many of our hearts. It has long been a welcoming community to people from around the world, and the way everyone here has shown up strong and unified in the aftermath of Sunday’s tragedy is proof of that.
While I find it impossible to comprehend how individuals can have so much hate in their hearts, what I can deeply understand is the strength of this community. The way people have shown up for each other - including (and especially) the heroes of that day who risked their lives to save complete strangers; the neighborhood coffee shops offering support and warm coffees donated by strangers; friends opening their arms and ears; hundreds paddling out into the ocean this morning to honour those who passed - has been the most profound display of community I have ever witnessed.
My heart is with all of the families and friends of those affected, and with the entire Jewish community. What happened on Sunday was a tragedy no one should ever have to endure.
I’ve been trying to think of a way to support the Bondi and Jewish community in a way that can make a tangible difference, while continuing to honour the importance of this place and the people in it. Because of this, 100% of the proceeds from this Bondi art print will be donated to Support Sydney, where funds go directly to the victims and families impacted by the attack.
Maybe in this small way we can remember Bondi as it has always shown up for us, and give back to our community at the same time.
